Why contact them? If you experienced birth trauma and want support around this experience.

ABTA is the peak charity in Australia dedicated to supporting women, people, fathers, partners, and families after birth-related trauma. They listen to the voice of the consumer and respond to the unmet needs of birthing families. As a committed advocate for a multidisciplinary approach to maternity care, they actively collaborate with diverse health professional groups and highly value each group’s unique contribution and strong commitment to maternity care. Through these partnerships, they aim to enhance their services and provide comprehensive information support to birthing families.​

Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA)

Why contact them? For information about every breastfeeding, mixed feeding, solids, and adjusting to motherhood question. They also support the National Breastfeeding Hotline a free, 24/7 service. 1800 686 268.

The Australian Breastfeeding Association is Australia's peak body for breastfeeding information, education and support. Through the provision of practical mother-to-mother peer support, up-to-date and evidence-based information and continuing education for health care workers, ABA helps hundreds of thousands of families each year on their breastfeeding journey. Internationally recognised, the ABA also works to affect policy and societal change to make it easier for mothers to successfully breastfeed for as long as they choose to.

Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE)

Why contact them? For information throughout family planning, pregnancy and postpartum.

COPE’s vision is a connected, informed and empowered community that supports women and their families to achieve strong and enduring mental health during pregnancy and the year following birth. COPE will enable mandatory national perinatal mental health screening and referrals, based on the National Perinatal Mental Health Guideline, to ensure the best mental and emotional health and wellbeing of Australian mothers and their families.

Gidget Foundation Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to support the mental health of expectant, new and potential parents to ensure they receive accessible, timely and specialist care. Gidget Foundation Australia promotes awareness, drives advocacy, educates and delivers services to prevent and treat perinatal mental health issues through early detection and intervention.
